New Orleans, baby!!

Hitting the road in... about 5 hours. Or at least that's the plan. Evidently Miss Vivienne Vermuth, my roadtrip buddy, is expecting me to be getting up at 6am. Silly woman... In hopes of actually staying on schedule I'm heading over to her home tonight to snuggle with her kitties so that she can shove me out the door in the morning on time. Once we hit NOLA we're picking up the fabulously fabulous Red Snapper at the airport and hitting the hotel for a disco nap. There's 3 nights of shows, back to back. The list of performers is so long! And a couple of our amazing Dallas girls are taking the stage to bring a bit of extra flavor to the event.

There are so many amazing things going on this weekend that I'm not even going to try and list all of them. Please check out the website to get the full details. There's performances, pannel discussions, workshops, VENDORS (haha that's me!!), and even a few of the proud legends of New Orleans burlesque. I'm going to make damn sure I get to meet these amazing women.

Buy your tickets here :)

Returned home to hit the road

So I did in fact return home after my trip to Grand Cayman. I did have some hesitation and thoughts about how I'd get my feathers and stuff shipped in if I decided to stay. But by the end of the trip I was quite ready to be back home with my own bed and kitties. Thanks to a last minute crisis of a lost passport I nearly got stuck there! It's amazing how fast one can change from "awww, I'm going to miss it here *sniff*" to "I want to get the HELL out of this godforsaken town!!!!!"

Really only had time to get the luggage unpacked and washed, because I'm about to hit the road for an overnight trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma! I did sneak in the time to get a few last minute fascinators made. If you're anywhere near OK, then I highly advise coming out to see this show. I know it's last minute... but hey, my mind is still on Vacation Mode.

The detail.... in case you're lazy and don't want to read the flyer.
At the Marquee!

Show starts at 9:30 (but I have yet to see a show that runs promptly on time, hehe they're women! they're performers! what can you expect? love you girls!!!!)

Mary Anne Moan! I've seen her perform in Dallas back at the Bewitching Burlesque show that I vended at. She's really awesome!

K, people I gotta hit the road. See you soon, Tulsa!

Post - TX Burlesque Festival in Austin

Meet Amanda. She's an awesome girl that really helped me out this past weekend at the TX Burlesque Fest. One might say she even saved my ass. I know I was incredibly lucky that she was able to roadtrip with me to Austin, help provide me with a place to stay, and be an incredible Booth Buddy. Thank you so much Amanda, you are such a sweet person for helping me out and I really appreciate everything. This was her first experience with burlesque, so seeing 50 performances over 2 days was a great education in the variety of dance styles. She really liked it! We both cheered loudly for the shows, so much so that we nearly lost our voices by Sunday. But always worth it to show our support for the hardworking performers.

I took this shot of my booth on Saturday at the start of the show. I got to chat with and meet so many awesome people this weekend! If you bought something from me, remember to send me photos of you in your DDD fascinator, I'd love to post them up on my blog.

Here's some of my newest designs. They're the classic fascinator on a disk pad. The ivory one in the center is going to a very sweet girl, Brittany T, to be worn on her wedding day! I cannot say how incredibly flattered to have my first bride-to-be as a customer. She has a vintage 1950s ivory wedding dress that is going to look fabulous with the fascinator.

So as with any road trip, Amanda and I stopped for some of the fun sight seeing places along the way. For anyone who makes the Dallas <--> Austin trip regularly, you know allllll about how just north of Waco you have to stop for the Czech food places. We made our pit stop at the Czech Stop for some yummy sausage kolaches. They were delicious! I snapped this photo with my phone of the to die for pastries under the counter.

This photo was taken and sent to my favorite German girl, Courtney Crave. Her response? "mmmmmm sausages" Totally fitting response, I say. Sausage fridge!

Bacon mints? I thought these were more internet myths. Evidently they are real. And I bought a pack for a friend, he's a big fan of the bacon flavored junk online. I'm just morbidly curious enough to want to taste one.... briefly.

Had a blast, thank you everyone that helped put on such a fun show!!
