Broads & Panties, March 6th

As most of you living in Dallas know, 4 businesses in our beloved lower Greenville were destroyed by fires early Tuesday morning. If you hadn’t heard about this tragedy that destroyed Terilli’s, Micks, Hurricane Grill, and Greenville Bar & Grill please check it out here.

This Saturday, March 6th, Broads & Panties has joined together with Jessie from 102.1 The Edge and local businesses and artists to support those affected by the lower Greenville fires. Originally, Broads & Panties Burlesque-A-Billy was to be a rockabilly burlesque show featuring the talents of local performers, including Courtney Crave as the headliner. Broads & Panties is the second production birthed from the brain of talented Dallas performer Vivienne Vermuth. Now, thanks to so many people in the community coming together, this has turned into a huge burlesque event and benefit raffle.

First, let’s talk about the show. Broads & Panties Burlesque-A-Billy is an all rockabilly burlesque revue featuring local performers such as Scarlet Switches, Scarlet Rose Royale, Zamra, Vinny Velour, Cora Coquette, Bubbles Von BonBon, Alystre McQueen, Syntactic, Sin O'Rita, Pixie O'Kneel, and Vic Handsome. Please go to the Trees Dallas website to get your tickets for this one of a kind show. There’s going to be singing, there’s going to be hot chicks taking their clothes off, there’s going to be fantastic music. And there’s going to be an awesome raffle.

After the fires on Tuesday a number of people decided that we needed to do something. 100% of the proceeds from the raffle being held at Broads & Panties are going to help those businesses affected by the fire. So the more of you who come out and buy raffle tickets, the more we have to give to those who need it! Here are some of the amazing things you can win in the raffle:

-Custom art work from local artists including Vera Voodoo

- 3 sessions of laser tattoo removal from Allen Falkner of Fade Fast Laser Tattoo Removal PLUS 1 cover up tattoo done by Stephen Hibbs of Suffer City Tattoo (joint gift certificate with a value of $600)

BB & T Bank (formerly Colonial Bank) at Greenville & Vickery has established a relief fund. You can make a direct donation at any time. Make checks payable to Lower Greenville Employee Assistance Fund. A PayPal account is also in the works so donations can be made to the fund on line

***NOTE if you make your donation after business hours be sure to include your name and address so they can forward you a receipt. All donations are tax deductible

Quick note, there is a VERY good chance that the tickets will sell out, please make sure to be there early! Doors open at 7, show starts promptly at 9. This will be an earlier event, probably ending at 11 or 12. Don't get there late, you'll miss it!

New Orleans, baby!!

Hitting the road in... about 5 hours. Or at least that's the plan. Evidently Miss Vivienne Vermuth, my roadtrip buddy, is expecting me to be getting up at 6am. Silly woman... In hopes of actually staying on schedule I'm heading over to her home tonight to snuggle with her kitties so that she can shove me out the door in the morning on time. Once we hit NOLA we're picking up the fabulously fabulous Red Snapper at the airport and hitting the hotel for a disco nap. There's 3 nights of shows, back to back. The list of performers is so long! And a couple of our amazing Dallas girls are taking the stage to bring a bit of extra flavor to the event.

There are so many amazing things going on this weekend that I'm not even going to try and list all of them. Please check out the website to get the full details. There's performances, pannel discussions, workshops, VENDORS (haha that's me!!), and even a few of the proud legends of New Orleans burlesque. I'm going to make damn sure I get to meet these amazing women.

Bewitching Burlesque Presents: Mid Summer Masquerade COSTUME CONTEST!!!

This deserves it's own post. To further entice people to come see this show (as if we really need any extra excuse to go...) there will be a costume contest! Gotta love any (valid) excuse to dress to excess. Since I'm busy making things I'm just gonna borrow the details straight from the Bewitching Burlesque Blog. Also if you just happen to need the perfect addition to your costume keep me in mind!

~~~~~~~~~~
Just what do we mean by "Dress to Excess" at our Mid Summer Masquerade? We know our community loves to dress to the nines when they are just going out for the grocery's (you never know who you'll run in to, right?) so we want you all to pull out the stops and do what you've wanted to do and Dress to Excess!
Our costume pageant is more than just a costume *contest* it's a DARE- to give yourself permission to go as crazy as you want to and dip in to your creative well as deep as it goes.
(We only ask that you cover any areas that would be covered by a string bikini. Gotta stay on the right side of the line with the law.)
Our judges have four different categories to hand out the awards.
Most Glamorous: Female/Feminine- doesn't mean you are female- just that you define curves, grace and are dressed to Excess in glamorous, sensual beauty.
Most Debonair
: Male/Masculine- does not mean that you are male, just in a masculine costume and dressed to Excess with your "my macho" and yes, you can be macho in a skirt- we've seen it...and drooled about it.
Most Outrageous: creative, comedic, crazy or just... odd... we love the odd....
Most Bewitching: The judges favorite costume of the evening. The crowed title of the evening.
Do you have to dress in a costume to attend the event? No! We welcome voyeurs too! What's the point of dressing to excess, if there's no one to appreciate it! Got questions? Just drop us a line at Bewitchingburlesque at gmail dot com.
And don't forget to buy your tickets in advance!
The Bewitching Burlesque girls are at it again! This time coming back to Dallas with wonderful local girls, some incredible Austin girls, and a few brand new performers! Atomic Frolic in Dallas
This is going to be an amazing show. Many wonderful ladies will be taking the stage to dance new burlesque routines for your pleasure. My favorite Dallas man, Ricki Derek, will be doing a live show later in the evening for some great music.
I'm happy to say that I'll be working this event as well. I'll be setting up a vending table to sell my fascinators. So please stop by, say hi, and try on my designs! Oh yeah, and bring monies :)
The show will be at the fabulously restored Lakewood Theater located at 1825 Abrams Way, Dallas, Texas 75214. The doors will open at 8:00 and the show will start at 9:30. Additional parking for the show will be available to the west of the theater behind Faulkner Tower 6220 Gaston Avenue. The Lakewood Theater will have 3 full bars to serve you.
Get dressed up, toss on your dancing shoes, and come have a blast.
Looking forward to it!
Returned home to hit the road
So I did in fact return home after my trip to Grand Cayman. I did have some hesitation and thoughts about how I'd get my feathers and stuff shipped in if I decided to stay. But by the end of the trip I was quite ready to be back home with my own bed and kitties. Thanks to a last minute crisis of a lost passport I nearly got stuck there! It's amazing how fast one can change from "awww, I'm going to miss it here *sniff*" to "I want to get the HELL out of this godforsaken town!!!!!"
Really only had time to get the luggage unpacked and washed,because I'm about to hit the road for an overnight trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma! I did sneak in the time to get a few last minute fascinators made. If you're anywhere near OK, then I highly advise coming out to see this show. I know it's last minute... but hey, my mind is still on Vacation Mode.
The detail.... in case you're lazy and don't want to read the flyer.
At the Marquee!
222 N. Main Street
Tulsa, Oklahoma
Doors open at 9
Show starts at 9:30 (but I have yet to see a show that runs promptly on time, hehe they're women! they're performers! what can you expect? love you girls!!!!)
Who can you see? Lots of hot ladies!! Come check out the beautiful Kira Von Sutra before she high tails it off to Cali.
Mary Anne Moan! I've seen her perform in Dallas back at the Bewitching Burlesque show that I vended at. She's really awesome!
K, people I gotta hit the road. See you soon, Tulsa!
Vending - Dallas BBW Social, Memorial Day weekend
Another event I'll be vending at! May is just soooo busy for me. Need a break! Actually I do have a break coming up soon, I'm going on vacation with my family to Grand Cayman in mid June. Can't wait! Need rest, need a beach, need a fruity boozey drink! So I've been working my tail off this week to work up my inventory so I'll have lots of fun things for the girls at this fun event. I'm so excited! Everyone here is very friendly, I've chatted with a few of them on the yahoo group and I'm looking forward to meeting them.
Here's some details and descriptions about the event I snagged from their website.
  • This years lightly "Treasure Island" themed bash will run through the entire weekend, and will be filled with lots of activities and fun.
  • Meet and greet social Friday night in the "Cambridge/Oxford" room.
  • Full breakfast for hotel guests, group outings, pool and hot-tub parties, full bar, dinner and dancing into the night.
  • After-parties by the pool, with games, jello shots and party favors.
  • Social treasure hunt and silent auction throughout the event.
  • Door prizes, unique product vendors, and much more.
Check out the yahoo group! Tons of really nice people. Warning though, they post... a LOT. haha, be ready for a very friendly and chatty group.
There's still tickets available if you are interested in joining in on the festivities! Check the main page for all details;
http://dallasbbwsocial.com
Click here for the full agenda of events. There's so much going on! I'm very excited for this event, but now it's time for me to run back to making fascinators. Lots to do! Been working so hard that last night I found a bit of netting stuck to my face. Glamor, baby!!
Post - TX Burlesque Festival in Austin
Meet Amanda. She's an awesome girl that really helped me out this past weekend at the TX Burlesque Fest. One might say she even saved my ass. I know I was incredibly lucky that she was able to roadtrip with me to Austin, help provide me with a place to stay, and be an incredible Booth Buddy. Thank you so much Amanda, you are such a sweet person for helping me out and I really appreciate everything. This was her first experience with burlesque, so seeing 50 performances over 2 days was a great education in the variety of dance styles. She really liked it! We both cheered loudly for the shows, so much so that we nearly lost our voices by Sunday. But always worth it to show our support for the hardworking performers.
I took this shot of my booth on Saturday at the start of the show. I got to chat with and meet so many awesome people this weekend! If you bought something from me, remember to send me photos of you in your DDD fascinator, I'd love to post them up on my blog.
Here's some of my newest designs. They're the classic fascinator on a disk pad. The ivory one in the center is going to a very sweet girl, Brittany T, to be worn on her wedding day! I cannot say how incredibly flattered to have my first bride-to-be as a customer. She has a vintage 1950s ivory wedding dress that is going to look fabulous with the fascinator.
So as with any road trip, Amanda and I stopped for some of the fun sight seeing places along the way. For anyone who makes the Dallas <--> Austin trip regularly, you know allllll about how just north of Waco you have to stop for the Czech food places. We made our pit stop at the Czech Stop for some yummy sausage kolaches. They were delicious! I snapped this photo with my phone of the to die for pastries under the counter.
This photo was taken and sent to my favorite German girl, Courtney Crave. Her response? "mmmmmm sausages" Totally fitting response, I say. Sausage fridge!
Bacon mints? I thought these were more internet myths. Evidently they are real. And I bought a pack for a friend, he's a big fan of the bacon flavored junk online. I'm just morbidly curious enough to want to taste one.... briefly.
Had a blast, thank you everyone that helped put on such a fun show!!
Bewitching Burlesque, photos and more!!
The Bewitching Burlesque April show was FABULOUS!!!
I'd like to introduce you to the incredibly sweet and lovely Katie S. She was one of the very lucky winners of the Bewitching raffle contest. I'm sure all the girls were quite jealous of her very pretty light blue fan with vintage seashell jewelry centerpiece. It was such a fun springtime item, one that I knew would look great on any hair color, that's why I choose it. She was very happy with her prize and I hope that she enjoys it for a very long time.
The performances were all so great. So much talent in one small space!! I took lots of photos, but there was a smog machine right next to my booth so all of them came out looking very foggy. I can tell you, I had no clue there was a smoke machine next to me.... So when I noticed a bit of smoke passing underneath one of my lamps... I flipped out!! I was pulling stuff out behind my bar area looking for the fire! It took me quite a while to understand that it was just a machine and that I wasn't going to catch on fire. Can we say "PANIC!!!!!"?
So here's a few shots of my table that I took before the smoke machine started pouring out all over the place. Here's me at my booth, if you ever see me out make sure to stop by and say hello!
Thanks to the lovely Phoebe Fireball for this photo!
Some Teardrops, Mini Clips, and a few Fans in the background.
See, told you I was making pasties! I think they're all very pretty and sexy, perfect for those awesome Tassel Twirling Vixens!!
Here's my special Flower holding trellis and my platter o'pasties. I'm working on bringing out more spring and summer colors.
Thanks so much for everyone that came out to support this wonderful event! Thanks to everyone that put in countless hours of work to make this a wonderful event!!
