I'm back!
After a much needed break from everything I'm back and better than ever. Gotta have time for yourself, family, and friends from time to time to get things back in balance, ya know? So I've been hard at work the last two weeks getting my etsy page set up in a proper fashion. Tedious work! But it's worth it.
A quick note that I'll be at a small local Holiday Shopping Bazaar today. It's small, but there will be lots of local crafters and fun games. If you need to find some special gifts for the loved ones in your life, please keep us in mind! Us small business people will appreciate your business way more than Walmart ever could.
Friday, Dec 11th
5 to 9pm

If you can make it out, we'd all love to have you. Best wishes everyone, hope to see you there!

New Orleans, baby!!
Hitting the road in... about 5 hours. Or at least that's the plan. Evidently Miss Vivienne Vermuth, my roadtrip buddy, is expecting me to be getting up at 6am. Silly woman... In hopes of actually staying on schedule I'm heading over to her home tonight to snuggle with her kitties so that she can shove me out the door in the morning on time. Once we hit NOLA we're picking up the fabulously fabulous Red Snapper at the airport and hitting the hotel for a disco nap. There's 3 nights of shows, back to back. The list of performers is so long! And a couple of our amazing Dallas girls are taking the stage to bring a bit of extra flavor to the event.
There are so many amazing things going on this weekend that I'm not even going to try and list all of them. Please check out the website to get the full details. There's performances, pannel discussions, workshops, VENDORS (haha that's me!!), and even a few of the proud legends of New Orleans burlesque. I'm going to make damn sure I get to meet these amazing women.

Photos! Angela Ryan in a custom fascinator
A lovely local lady, Angela Ryan, recently asked me to make her a custom fascinator to go along with a custom latex dress. So of course I jump at the chance to design some fun stuff for a stunning lady. Here's a couple shots that the great Tim Bennett of Dallas got of her in her custom clothing and fascinator. I'm in love with them! He did a great job. I always love working with amazingly creative people.
My friend Angela also has designed a line of pinup necklaces! I've seen them in person and they are so incredibly cute!!! She designed them herself so you get a little bit of special love straight from her heart. And if you look at the top of the shot, what is that? Oh, that's a corner of the fasciantor I made her as well. How cute is that?! Please check out and hopefully get one of these amazing necklaces for yourself. They're a great item to go with any outfit for a great price. $20.00 for a great piece like this is a bargain.

I'm a slacker.
Totally been ignoring this page. Sorry! Lots going on lately in life.
Things are going well! Kinda. Sorta. Been stressing out TONS over the show in New Orleans this weekend. It's my first one in the fab city of Nola. I love that town so much. Wanted to bring my A-game, ya know? I'm bringing some great new items out to the wonderful people of New Orleans. Anything special, you might ask? Rhinestone Pasties!!! I searched for months... MONTHS! to find the perfect supplier for my rhinestones. They're acrylics, so while they are not as good of a quality as Swarovski, they are cheap! And I'm really proud to say that they are some of the best quality of acrylic rhinestones that I have EVER seen. I wanted so much to be able to bring great quality with a reasonable price to my customers. You people mean a lot to me, you have no idea. In the crap-tastic economy right now people are having to watch their budgets. That's what I keep in mind when I create my items. Something of great quality for as reasonable a price as possible. Can't wait to see how my rhinestone pasties go over!
Photos soon!
- Family issues? check.
- Friends/social issues? check.
- Health issues? check.
- Money issues? double check.

Bewitching Burlesque Presents: Mid Summer Masquerade COSTUME CONTEST!!!
This deserves it's own post. To further entice people to come see this show (as if we really need any extra excuse to go...) there will be a costume contest! Gotta love any (valid) excuse to dress to excess. Since I'm busy making things I'm just gonna borrow the details straight from the Bewitching Burlesque Blog. Also if you just happen to need the perfect addition to your costume keep me in mind!
~~~~~~~~~~
Just what do we mean by "Dress to Excess" at our Mid Summer Masquerade? We know our community loves to dress to the nines when they are just going out for the grocery's (you never know who you'll run in to, right?) so we want you all to pull out the stops and do what you've wanted to do and Dress to Excess!
Our costume pageant is more than just a costume *contest* it's a DARE- to give yourself permission to go as crazy as you want to and dip in to your creative well as deep as it goes.
(We only ask that you cover any areas that would be covered by a string bikini. Gotta stay on the right side of the line with the law.)
Our judges have four different categories to hand out the awards.
Most Glamorous: Female/Feminine- doesn't mean you are female- just that you define curves, grace and are dressed to Excess in glamorous, sensual beauty.
Most Debonair: Male/Masculine- does not mean that you are male, just in a masculine costume and dressed to Excess with your "my macho" and yes, you can be macho in a skirt- we've seen it...and drooled about it.
Most Outrageous: creative, comedic, crazy or just... odd... we love the odd....
Most Bewitching: The judges favorite costume of the evening. The crowed title of the evening.
Do you have to dress in a costume to attend the event? No! We welcome voyeurs too! What's the point of dressing to excess, if there's no one to appreciate it! Got questions? Just drop us a line at Bewitchingburlesque at gmail dot com.
And don't forget to buy your tickets in advance!
Bewitching Burlesque Presents: Mid Summer Masquerade
The Bewitching Burlesque girls are at it again! This time coming back to Dallas with wonderful local girls, some incredible Austin girls, and a few brand new performers! I had a blast at the last two shows and I'm very excited about this next one. They'll be performing at a much bigger venue too, to accommodate a bigger ( and better!) crowd.
I highly advise getting your tickets early! The first time I attended one of their shows I nearly didn't get in because they were sold out. This is really not something that you wanna miss out on because you made the same mistake I did.
Get your advance tickets here.
I even managed to get a full list of performers. Had to pimp out my cats for snuggles for it, but I got it!
Our Dallas/Fort Worth gals will be...
Ginger Valentine
Black Mariah
Glam'Amour
Elisa Davis
Pixie O'Kneel
Aviva Viola
Trixi Toxic
Bubbles Von Bon Bon
Scarlett Rose Royale
The girls that'll be making the trip from Austin are...
Nouvelle Burlesque Competition in Dallas
So the nifty people that bring awesome burlesque talent to the Dallas crowd, La Divina Burlesque Productions? Looks like their putting together another wonderful event in Dallas on Oct 23rd. They also seem to need one more girl to fill in a performance spot. Ya interested in performing with some of the best performers in Dallas and abroad? Here's your chance! They're holding a competition on Sept 18th to find that special person. Read below to find out all the details.
Best of luck and remember to keep me in mind if you need a little something special to add to your costume.
La Divina and Diamond Jim of La Divina Burlesque Productions are proud to announce that on Friday October 23, 2009 at the Lakewood theater we have organized our next big show to follow the 2009 Atomic Frolic. The October show is called the “Burlesque Nocturne.”
We have spared no expense and left no contact unused in the talent we are importing for this show. We are bringing in from Las Vegas, Nevada, the winner of the 2009 Ms. Exotic World and the undisputed reigning queen of Burlesque Kalani Kokonuts. Ms. Kokonuts will be gracing our stage with two of her show stopping dazzling routines. Along with Kalani, we are bringing in Renea’ Le Roux from Atlanta Georgia. Ms. Le Roux is performance is bigger than life. I have seen her perform twice and both times she brought down the house. Aside from her tsunami like stage presence, her costume design is truly over the top. We are truly fortunate and slightly overwhelmed we have both of them on one night. The question is will the Lakewood be big enough for all of our talent.
We have also booked Coco Lectric and Ruby Joule from Austin, La Divina, Ginger Valentine and other local talent. That said, we still have an opening for one or two more routines in the show, subject to contract negotiations.
Our normal motis operandi is that we have quietly recruited hand picked local and near local talent for the best cast for our individual show. We have almost secured every position in this cast for the Nocturne. But one matter has vexed us. We have a reputation for maintaining high standards for our shows. It is true we are choosy about who we hire, but we know there is a lot of great talent in the Dallas area and we are open to all of it. That said we have decided to open a contest.
The Nouvelle Burlesque Revue is a “club based low ticket price show” we have done several times in the past. Usually it is a show dedicated to veteran talent to try out new routines in front of an audience and new talent to get stage time. La Divina will be MC’ing the September show and will not be dancing. Consistent with the idea of the Nouvelle Burlesque Revue our September 18, 2009 show will be a contest for local burlesque talent.
We will recruit 10 to 12 of the best of local talent that is not booked for the Nocturne and let them perform one routine at the Nouvelle. The best in show at the Nouvelle wins a contract to do one routine at the Nocturne in October. This is not a burlesque festival. All the dancer that perform at the Nouvelle will get paid something, more if the crowd is good. The Nouvelle Burlesque Revue will be held at Club Excuses in conjunction with Panoptikon and DJ Lord Byron in deep ellum on Friday September 18, 2009
The winner of the “contest” gets a contract or one paid routine at the Nocturne and the chance to perform with Kalani Coconuts, Renea’ Le Roux and the rest of the Nocturne’s cast in the 800 seat Lakewood theater. There will be no crown, no trophy and no sash, just a paying contract and bragging rights.
RULES OF THE CONTEST:
1) No glitter
2) No blood work, real or otherwise.
3) No Wet work.
4) We, the judges, prefer classic burlesque but we are open to anything in this contest.
5) We believe in putting “strip” into striptease, so in your routine you strip down to pasties or their equivalent.
6) No merchins
7) No time limits on routines, we prefer over 3 minutes but under 8 minutes.
8) All music conflicts allowed, we do not care if 3 people use Man With a Golden Arm
9) No Divas, we are not running a charm school but we want reasonable harmony in the dressing room. In other words if you can not play well with the other strippers you will not win.
10) Crowd response is a factor so bring your friends to cheer.
What we need from you no later than August 2, 2009
1) Your name and a link to some place on the web with your photos and maybe yourburlesque/dance background (i.e. myspace, web site, etc.)
2) The name of and rough concept of your routine and music.
3) Send all inquiries to Management@ladydivina.com
Those chosen to perform will be notified shortly there after and music, prop list and blocking instructions will be due August 9, 2009.
Now please distribute this to any and all burlesque performers in the Metroplex. We are looking for local talent only.
May the best ecdysiast win.
Dallas antique shop is going out of business
Sales!
Clearance!
Discounts!
Some of my favorite words, ya know.
So..... there's a local antique shop that's going out of business. I'm really sad that I'm just now learning about it. I went there earlier this week and a few hours later I emerged blinking in the bright Texas sun with my arms loaded up with goodies. I found so much stuff!!! I loaded up mainly on vintage clothing and accessories on this trip. It was incredibly hard to steer clear of the jewelry boxes. Very hard!! But, as always, I try very hard to keep my prices low so I wanted to wait until their prices drop a bit lower until I start digging for the jewelry. But even when I went this week most of the items in this shop were discounted at 75% off. Tell me those numbers don't make your wallets giggle in excitement.
The details...
The Boulevard Emporium
1010 N. Industrial Blvd
Dallas, Texas 75207
Hours 10 - 5
214-748-1960
They are closing shop on July 31st, so make sure to get in there before then!
A recap; Atomic Frolic
Whew, still recovering from all the work I did in preperation for the Atomic Frolic in Dallas. The show went very well! The ladies wowed the audience with their skill. Ricki Derek swooned us all with his wonderful voice. And suspiciously, there were many pretty heads with one of a kind, hand made Decadent Dame Designs pieces adorning them. The crowd really seemed to enjoy my stuff! I love having the pride to know that the stuff that I take so much time into making is being enjoyed to the fullest. That the girls are so happy with their purchase that they walk away wearing it... that is such a good feeling for me. Thank you to everyone who stopped by my table to chat and look around, and a huge thank you to everyone who spent their hard earned money on my designs. I appreciate it so much that my passion for design is shared with others.
In case you missed it, here's some photos!
Enjoy :)
The Lakewood, a wonderful place to be.
Ricki Derek. He's dreamy!
My booth buddy, Amanda, and me. Working hard!
Some ladies checking out my designs.
Rose Darling and Cora Coquette waiting in the wings about to go on stage. Two wonderful performers!!
Vivienne Vermuth and the headlining performer of the evening, Kitten Deville. Miss Vivienne was wearing one of my newest items (finished the evening before the event!) while she was panty wrangling for the evening.
For those who are not as familiar with burlesque, here's a lesson for ya!
Panty Wrangler = The person (often a female) that gathers up the discarded clothing and props of a performer after their done performing. A very nessecary person to have around! Can't have the panties getting lost, that would be a tragedy.
Atomic Frolic in the press!
The crew working in and around the Atomic Frolic have been doing a TON of promotion. Check out these photos and write-ups about the event in various places around town. I snagged the pics from the lovely Rose Darling who will also be performing on Saturday. Make sure to catch her perform on stage!
In local Metro ANE (ANE link is NSFW) the event gets a write up from one of my friends, Vivienne Vermuth. She's awesome!
In the Dallas Observer also!!
And the Thrillist!
Atomic Frolic in Dallas
This is going to be an amazing show. Many wonderful ladies will be taking the stage to dance new burlesque routines for your pleasure. My favorite Dallas man, Ricki Derek, will be doing a live show later in the evening for some great music.
I'm happy to say that I'll be working this event as well. I'll be setting up a vending table to sell my fascinators. So please stop by, say hi, and try on my designs! Oh yeah, and bring monies :)
The show will be at the fabulously restored Lakewood Theater located at 1825 Abrams Way, Dallas, Texas 75214. The doors will open at 8:00 and the show will start at 9:30. Additional parking for the show will be available to the west of the theater behind Faulkner Tower 6220 Gaston Avenue. The Lakewood Theater will have 3 full bars to serve you.
Get dressed up, toss on your dancing shoes, and come have a blast.
Looking forward to it!
Photoshoot Maddness
Told you I was going to be busy! This Sunday I'll be heading out with a car packed to the brim with goodies.
It's Photoshoot Madness!!!
*jazz hands*
*jazz hands*
A little while back I was contacted by a local gal who had her pretty eyes on my items and was curious to see if she could model some of my creations. Well who am I to say no to such a sweet girl? It's for the good of mankind, you know. So she got the ball rolling on pulling together a photographer and a couple of other models for a day of fun.
So this here is Bondi Holly who I've been in contact with. In this photo she is modeling with the photographer of the day, Katie Decarlo. These girls have some awesome work and I'm thrilled to be working with them. Wish us luck, can't wait to see how the shots come out!!
My to-do list is jam packed in preparation of this shoot. I only have 2 days! Luckily, most of my fascinators are all packed up in their carrying boxes. But I also promised to bring along a bunch of my vintage clothing and accessories for the gals to wear. That'll be fun trying to collect everything together in one place. Where's my tylenol.... Even though it'll be a ton of hard work, I have high hopes that these awesome girls are going to rock this shoot.
Loves it!
New item for sale!
Whew... Been doing a lot of catching up this week! June was full of traveling, deadlines, stress, and family stuff. Glad that's over! Now I finally can get back to work and catch up on all the stuff I've had to put off. First thing on the order, I have a new item up for sale on Etsy!
This is a very pretty, elegant, sweet, and stunning black and white fascinator. It's one of the smaller ones, measuring only 3.75'' wide at the disk base. I love that it can go with so many different outfits easily. Someone better snag it up quick or I may put it on my shelf of items to keep and wear myself.
This design has a simple matte black base with a very pretty and feminine white trim. The netting is a soft material in white. It has 4 thin black biot feathers that can be arranged to your liking, but they curve downward to delicately sway with your movement and the wind. There is a vintage plastic black button at the back side of this fascinator to give it a little decoration. It is just a plain button, to go along with the elegance of this lovely hair accessory.
It sits on a very secure and easy to use plastic comb. Just find the right angle and slide it in. I love the combs, I can slip the item in and just forget about it. They won't budge until you're ready for them to come out.
Returned home to hit the road
So I did in fact return home after my trip to Grand Cayman. I did have some hesitation and thoughts about how I'd get my feathers and stuff shipped in if I decided to stay. But by the end of the trip I was quite ready to be back home with my own bed and kitties. Thanks to a last minute crisis of a lost passport I nearly got stuck there! It's amazing how fast one can change from "awww, I'm going to miss it here *sniff*" to "I want to get the HELL out of this godforsaken town!!!!!"
Really only had time to get the luggage unpacked and washed,because I'm about to hit the road for an overnight trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma! I did sneak in the time to get a few last minute fascinators made. If you're anywhere near OK, then I highly advise coming out to see this show. I know it's last minute... but hey, my mind is still on Vacation Mode.
The detail.... in case you're lazy and don't want to read the flyer.
At the Marquee!
222 N. Main Street
Tulsa, Oklahoma
Doors open at 9
Show starts at 9:30 (but I have yet to see a show that runs promptly on time, hehe they're women! they're performers! what can you expect? love you girls!!!!)
Who can you see? Lots of hot ladies!! Come check out the beautiful Kira Von Sutra before she high tails it off to Cali.
Mary Anne Moan! I've seen her perform in Dallas back at the Bewitching Burlesque show that I vended at. She's really awesome!
K, people I gotta hit the road. See you soon, Tulsa!
Decisions... Decisions...
Yeah, I'm not entirely sure I'll be making that flight home next week. I got to go for a sunset swim last night. An amazing experience! Though looking underwater at the darkening ocean is a little creepy. Grand Cayman is a beautiful place.
Me and my youngest nephew taking an evening swim as the sun sets. How could anyone want to leave this place?
Vacation!!
Just wanted to stop by and quickly say that I'll be out of town until June 23rd. I'm currently sitting in lovely Grand Cayman getting some much needed relaxation with the family. Sun, beach, breeze, and even a little booze! Good times, I say.
I will be back in time to unpack my suitcases and wash the sand out of everything, then pack it back up for a trip to slightly less sunny Oklahoma. I'm excited to say this is my first time to bring my designs to an event outside of Texas. I'll be vending at the going away party for the great Green Queen, Kira Von Sutra. I'll be heading up there with my friend Courtney Crave, for a very fun road trip. I haven't even been to Tulsa before! So make sure to catch the show, it's totally worth a little bit of a drive.
Custom work & an Interview
I was out meeting a friend at a diner in downtown Dallas the other day over a table full of vintage sequin appliques and a beautiful vintage hat. While we ooh'd and ahh'd over the pieces we chatted about many things; fashion, inspiration, favoritism, and all kinds of fun ideas for the future. The little minx then took her happy butt over to her blog and wrote up some of the things we talked about. Check out my very first interview over here!
Vivienne Vermuth and I have a history of making back alley deals and swaps. She calls me up, asks for something special, and I hook her up. It's a good relationship :) She gets to keep me on my toes at being able to put together custom work in time for an important performance. I get to see the smile on her face when she realizes it's the perfect item to make her feel perfectly put together on stage. And of course we both get the pride of seeing our talents come together to create something wonderfully artistic.
Here she is performing at a recent burlesque show in dallas, Hot Rods & Heels, wearing one of my custom creations. She uses those beautiful golden wings to create liquid gold. You get the feeling that she's stepping right off the set of an old vegas show and into the spotlight. The fascinator she's wearing is a beautiful gold fan, one that I knew needed to be matched with a matchingly bold and beautiful woman. There are numerous gold swarovski crystals along the feathers to make sure that she sparkles to the highest degree. I wasn't in attendance that evening as it was the weekend of the TX Burlesque Festival in Austin, but I have it on good word that she put on a killer show.
Keep up to date with all her shows and interests by following her blog!
Etsy is fabulous, new item for sale!
So you may remember Amanda, the girl that went down to Austin with me to help out with the Texas Burlesque Festival. She really is quite the talented gal! I wanted to shoot some new photos of my items so I can put them up on Etsy. She jumped at the chance to play dress up and be my model for the day. This is her very first time modeling commercially. Granted, she is usually the first to jump in view if there is a camera within 50 yards... But she has never been given the job of being the model for a specific purpose. How did she do? See for yourself.
I personally think she did a spiffy job, she really is the cat's meow! I don't think I did so bad myself either though. I styled her wardrobe, did the job of hair stylist and makeup artist, photographer, and editor. It takes team work! We were shooting in Downtown Fort Worth, TX during the day. It was 98*F that day!!! She makes it look easy, doesn't she? You can hardly tell we were cooking on a hot May day in Texas.
I just put this item up on my etsy page on Friday night. I've already gotten some wonderful feedback! It hasn't sold yet, so if you just happen to HAVE to have this... get it fast! You can find it Here. This is a one of a kind item, I only have one more matching earring and it will be going on a totally different fascinator.
This earring centerpiece comes with history! I bought it at a living estate in Lewisville, Texas. It was previously owned by a woman named Ina W., who's family was one of the original inhabitants in Lewisville, the Walker family. She was an avid painter in both acrylics and pastels, her lovely home was covered in her original art. She left her home so that she could be closer to loved ones, and the longtime family friend I talked with had a wonderful message. She wanted to remind me and those I know that it is extremely important to check in on our elderly loved ones, that they need all of our love and attentions in their later years.
New estate items! Memorial day weekend
Oops, I seem to be a little tardy on uploading new photos from recent estate sales. And since I'll be going out again in the morning I don't want to be extra double behind in posting. Enjoy!
I love these appliques! I have at least 30 of them now. Seems that I keep adding things to my mental checklist of items to look for, and appliques are new on the list. And so damn pretty! All kinds of sparkly and colorful, all the good things that a design girl like myself drools over. Too much fun. Oh, and the polka dot background? That's an old blouse that I picked up so I can use it to form the disk pad basses of my new fascinators. I love getting to reuse cloth!
Jewelry!!! Oh I am so in love with these items. They mostly came from the very artsy craftsy household that I got most of my appliques from. The gold matching pieces on the left are actually very old belt buckles, and so intricate. So much fun to be had with these items. I'm considering adding the black and gray necklace in with a fascinator I make out of one of the earrings. Matching jewelry is always a must for a lovely Dame.
Vixens of Vaudeville shows - Dallas
wow...3 blogs in one day? Basically the only time today I've been away from my work table is to write these.
So check it out... A local group, The Vixens of Vaudeville, are doing a series of performances in DFW over the next week. They were kind enough to ask me to vend at their event, but I already had the BBW social booked this weekend and just wasn't able to do both. I was so sad! Still am, actually. I haven't seen them perform all together before and it's on my definite to-do list.
There's a number of performers doing this show and it really looks to be one hell of a group of women working to make these great events. Here is the beautiful Honey Cocoa Bordeauxx on stage at the recent event in Dallas, Hot Rods and Heels. And see that pretty yellow thing on her head? Yeah, that's one of mine. *beams* She bought it at the Bewitching Burlesque show in April and has been getting some great use out of it! Check out these incredibly lovely shots from a recent photo shoot she did. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
I just love the richness of the colors in this photo! Gold and black are such timelessly beautiful colors and she works them incredibly well.
Another beautiful burlesque babe doing a classic Film Noir style photo. Oh I so love me some Film Noir! I really love the softness and mystery of this shot. Her beauty stands out like no other. I'm so proud to have one of my designs gracing this beautiful head.
Vending - Dallas BBW Social, Memorial Day weekend
Another event I'll be vending at! May is just soooo busy for me. Need a break! Actually I do have a break coming up soon, I'm going on vacation with my family to Grand Cayman in mid June. Can't wait! Need rest, need a beach, need a fruity boozey drink! So I've been working my tail off this week to work up my inventory so I'll have lots of fun things for the girls at this fun event. I'm so excited! Everyone here is very friendly, I've chatted with a few of them on the yahoo group and I'm looking forward to meeting them.
Here's some details and descriptions about the event I snagged from their website.
- This years lightly "Treasure Island" themed bash will run through the entire weekend, and will be filled with lots of activities and fun.
- Meet and greet social Friday night in the "Cambridge/Oxford" room.
- Full breakfast for hotel guests, group outings, pool and hot-tub parties, full bar, dinner and dancing into the night.
- After-parties by the pool, with games, jello shots and party favors.
- Social treasure hunt and silent auction throughout the event.
- Door prizes, unique product vendors, and much more.
Check out the yahoo group! Tons of really nice people. Warning though, they post... a LOT. haha, be ready for a very friendly and chatty group.
There's still tickets available if you are interested in joining in on the festivities! Check the main page for all details;
Click here for the full agenda of events. There's so much going on! I'm very excited for this event, but now it's time for me to run back to making fascinators. Lots to do! Been working so hard that last night I found a bit of netting stuck to my face. Glamor, baby!!
